Round 1 - La ForĂȘt

Set amongst the pines

Set amongst the pines

After an effortless journey through Le Tunnel and a relaxing lunch at the Spoon clubhouse restaurant, we took on La Foret. The course opened in 1904 but was significantly changed after being damaged in WWI. The pine trees provide a calm and peaceful environment for all standards of golf. We enjoyed this more than La Mer which is seen as the premium course, La Foret is more playable and still has lots to keep you interested.

The match was close but Phil & Al dovetailed better to take the win.

Round 2 - La Mer

Classic French Links

Classic French Links

On day 2 in France we played La Mer, a fantastic, although tricky links course. Interesting you don’t see the sea until the 18th tee! The course opened in 1931 but has been altered significantly over the years. It has formidable bunkers, huge dunes and fast greens. It has hosted multiple French Opens and could easily be mistaken for being on the east coast of Scotland, apart from the superior weather!

Phil had a bit of a la mer but thankfully Al played some great golf to take the victory.
